Michael Regnier is always looking for an accident. But happily he’s never sustained any injuries. Only images of mysterious, often astonishing power. His layered technique of combining unrelated images owes it’s genesis to a certain helter skelter of his studio. One day he noticed the spontaneous juxtaposition of one transparency atop another. “My images are an extention of my life chaotic, messy and simultaneously in and out of control. And I like it that way.”

Born October 17, 1953 Michael Ireland Regnier grew up in the world of aesthetics since both of his parents are painters. While in high school, Michael began spending time in the photography lab at Hallmark Cards. This interest led to his enrollment at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1975, majoring in photography. His background in painting and photography are both evident in the layered technique of his current works. Michael began his commercial photography business in 1982. He services national and international clients from his home base in Kansas City, with an additional studio in Prague.

Michael has worked extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia for clients such as Marlboro, Columbia Records, Coca Cola, Nordica, Kodak, Blockbuster Music, Sprint, Nextel, Hallmark Cards, Oil of Olay and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Although Michael’s technique has received notable accolades thoughout the realm of advertising, his unique style is also applicable to the fine arts. Commissioned artwork has been available for private collectors exclusively through his studio since 1985. Michael’s work has been recognized by the following: Advertising Photographers of America, Graphis Design, Graphis Poster Annual, Communication Arts, Photography Annual, Photo Design Annual, American Photography Annual, American Association of Advertising Agencies, Clio International Advertising Awards. Michael was one of six photographers chosen from around the world to be published by Kodak International Photography. His work has also been featured in the Japanese graphic design magazine, Idea.
